Reliance carries out insurance appraisals and reserve fund studies throughout Alberta and BC and our highly specialized consultants are insured and licensed professionals that deal specifically in only one of the core areas of either insurance or reserve fund studies.
Reliance insurance appraisal professionals operate under the standards of the Canadian National Association of Real Estate Appraisers which adhere to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice. In Alberta all the members of Reliance are licensed appraisers under the Real Estate Council of Alberta which is the organization mandated with protecting consumers in real estate matters through the Alberta Real Estate Act.
Reliance reserve fund studies are conducted under the requirements and standards set out by the Real Institute of Canada. The Certified Reserve Planner (CRP) designation through the REIC is widely recognized as the most advanced reserve fund planning system in Canada.
Harold Weidman
President
Harold Weidman is the owner and founder of Reliance Asset Consulting Inc. and has been involved in the appraisal industry for 36 years with assignments completed in Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Ontario and the State of Arizona.
Mr. Weidman has been a guest lecturer on cost estimating and depreciation. He has also been a presenter and guest speaker to the Canadian Relocation Council, Calgary Apartment Association, Canadian Bar Association, Alberta Property Managers Association and Canadian Condominium Institute–South Alberta. As well he has provided information sessions and seminars to various property management companies, lending institutions and insurance brokerages.
Mr. Weidman has been interviewed and written articles for condominium organizations on insurance appraisals and reserve fund study issues as well as being involved in insurance arbitration and preparation of appraisal reports related to insurance replacement cost disputes. He has appeared as an expert witness before The Tax Review Board, Court of Queens Bench and Alberta Surface Rights Board. He has also appeared before the Calgary Assessment Review Board and Municipal Government Board with regard to condominium reserve fund studies on comprehensive multi-family properties. Harold was also a licensed real estate broker and a member of the Calgary Real Estate Board for over 32 years. He has also chaired several appraisal organization committees over the years and was a member of the Real Estate Council of Alberta – Real Estate Appraisal Advisory Committee.

Pete West
Sr. Insurance Appraiser
Pete West specializes in Insurance Appraisals and has been involved with the appraisal industry for six years completing assignments for multi-family residential, industrial, and commercial properties throughout Alberta and British Columbia.
Mr. West is a national director of CNAREA (Canadian National Association of Real Estate Appraisers), sits on two advisory committees for the same association, and was awarded CNAREA member of the year for 2009. He is a licensed Real Estate Appraiser with RECA (Real Estate Council of Alberta) and is an active participant in the appraisal industry.
