Harold Weidman is the founder of Reliance Asset Consulting Inc. and has been involved in the appraisal industry for over 43 years with assignments completed in Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Ontario and the State of Arizona. Harold Weidman has been completing insurance appraisals since 1977 and reserve fund studies since 2000. The construction industry has been a part of his life since 1965 and he has worked in various residential and commercial positions within the business.
He has been a guest speaker and presenter regarding insurance issues and reserve fund studies for various industry related organizations, including insurance providers. Harold has appeared as an expert witness before the Municipal Government Board and the Calgary Assessment Review Board with regard to Condominium Reserve Fund studies on multi-family properties. Harold has been a guest lecturer on cost estimating and depreciation. He has also been a presenter and guest speaker to the Canadian Relocation Council, Calgary Apartment Association, Canadian Bar Association, Alberta Property Managers Association and Canadian Condominium Institute – South Alberta and Northern Alberta Chapters. As well he has provided information sessions and seminars to various property management companies, lending institutions and insurance brokerages. He has also been interviewed and written articles for condominium organizations on insurance appraisals and reserve fund study issues as well as being involved in insurance arbitration and preparation of appraisal reports related to insurance replacement cost disputes. He has appeared as an expert witness before The Tax Review Board, Court of Queen’s Bench and Alberta Surface Rights Board. He has also appeared before the Calgary Assessment Review Board and Municipal Government Board with regard to condominium reserve fund studies on comprehensive multi-family properties.
Harold was also a licensed real estate broker and a member of the Calgary Real Estate Board for over 32 years. He holds retired status from the Appraisal Institute of Canada after having been a member since 1973 and having held the AACI and P App. designation for 37 years. Harold has chaired several appraisal organization committees over the years and was a member of the Real Estate Council of Alberta – Real Estate Appraisal Advisory Committee. Harold is an active member of the Canadian National Association of Real Estate Appraisers (CNAREA) and holds the senior designation DAC (Designated Appraiser Commercial). As well he holds the Certified Reserve Planner (CRP) designation from the Real Estate Institute of Canada and is currently the Chairman of the Certified Reserve Fund Planner Standards Committee.
