EV Ready Plans for Strata and Multi-Unit Residential Buildings
Reliance Asset Consulting provides EV Ready Plans for strata corporations, rental buildings, and multi-unit residential complexes across British Columbia. An EV Ready Plan outlines how a property can support at least one EV-ready parking stall per residential unit, meeting the technical and documentation requirements of BC Hydro’s EV Charger Rebate Program.
Our plans are prepared to support rebate eligibility, long-term electrical capacity planning, and practical implementation.

What is an EV Ready Plan?
EV Ready Plans are required for strata and multi-unit residential buildings applying for EV charger rebates in British Columbia and are intended to future-proof buildings for increasing EV adoption.
An EV Ready Plan is a technical planning document that outlines how electric vehicle charging can be provided to every residential parking stall over time. The plan confirms that each stall can support a future Level 2 EV charger through a compliant electrical termination point located within five metres of a parking space.

What Does "EV Ready" Mean?
An EV Ready parking stall includes:
• A dedicated electrical termination point capable of supplying Level 2 EV charging
• A termination point located within five metres of the supported parking stall or EVSE location
• Clearly labelled junction boxes identifying the parking stall(s) served
• Compatibility with EV energy management and load-sharing systems where applicable
The design may include junction boxes or receptacles depending on the selected electrical configuration and management strategy.

Who Prepares the EV Ready Plan
EV Ready Plans must be prepared by a licensed electrical contractor and/or a registered professional electrical engineer. Reliance Asset Consulting coordinates and delivers EV Ready Plans that align with program requirements and clearly document a single, preferred solution for the building.
Only one proposed solution and one consolidated cost estimate is included, as required by the rebate program.

What Does our Report Include?
The EV Ready Plan documents key property and building details, including the building address and primary contact information, the number of residential units and parking stalls, the number of EV-ready stalls and existing EV chargers, and plan author identification. The plan also includes an electronic declaration confirming that the requirements of the EV Ready Program have been met.
An electrical capacity assessment is provided that identifies the existing electrical service size, evaluates peak electrical demand and the methodology used to determine it, and confirms the available spare capacity prior to EV charger installation. All electrical values are documented in kilowatts (kW) in accordance with program requirements.
The charging performance assessment evaluates EV charging needs based on typical daily vehicle use and determines the minimum charging power required per vehicle when all parking stalls are in use. The assessment includes an estimate of the driving range added per hour of charging, an explanation of assumptions, standards, and reference guidelines used, and consideration of factors such as climate, topography, and resident usage patterns where applicable.
The plan presents a single, compliant EV charging solution for the entire building. This includes EVSE-to-breaker ratios, load management strategies, integration of existing EV chargers, and an assessment of telecom and network requirements. Compatible Level 2 networked EV chargers and energy management systems are identified, along with a clear determination of whether the existing electrical service is sufficient or if an upgrade is required.
A budget-level cost estimate is provided for planning purposes, outlining anticipated costs for electrical infrastructure upgrades, required network and communication infrastructure, and EV charging equipment where applicable.
